Cultural Parks Viewed as Essential Infrastructure for Cultural Advancement
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated that Cultural Parks (Taman Budaya) are essential infrastructure for the advancement of culture, rather than merely venues for hosting performances.
“The presence of these Cultural Parks is highly significant for cultural advancement, in accordance with the imperative mandate of Article 32, Paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution,” he said during the 25th National Cultural Park Working Meeting (Temu Karya Taman Budaya se-Indonesia XXV 2026) held at the Yogyakarta Cultural Park.
“It is a legacy present in almost every region, acting as a vital cultural centre,” he noted, as quoted in a government press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday.
He described Cultural Parks as living cultural infrastructure capable of providing spaces for knowledge production, talent regeneration, and the movement of the cultural ecosystem.
Furthermore, he stated that Cultural Parks function as a bond for national cohesion, a source of identity, a driver of growth, and a tool for diplomacy.
During the festival, 186 fine art works by 132 artists with disabilities were on display. The exhibited works included paintings, batik fabrics, installations, and multimedia pieces.
“The works on display are extraordinary because they demonstrate that anyone, despite limitations, can express their thoughts, feelings, and culture, as well as capture the current state of affairs,” said the Minister of Culture.
A Creative Corner within the Cultural Park, designed as a platform for digital marketing and product branding for artists and artisans, was also featured at the 25th National Cultural Park Working Meeting.
