Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The ‘Tresna Pancasila’ Cultural Parade was held along Malioboro Street in Yogyakarta as an effort to ignite the spirit of nationalism, culture, and the implementation of Pancasila values in daily life.

“This parade is not merely a celebration. We want to provide a cultural space that allows the community to practice the values of Pancasila,” said Eko Suwanto, the initiator of the Tresna Pancasila Cultural Parade and Chairman of Commission A of the DIY Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), in a statement in Yogyakarta on Sunday.

According to him, the parade, which travelled from Malioboro Street towards Taman Pintar Yogyakarta on Saturday (6/6), was not only an agenda to commemorate the birthday of Bung Karno but also a means to ground Pancasila values within society.

“‘Tresna’, the name of the activity, carries the meaning of love born from the sincerity of the heart, embodying values of sincerity, volunteerism, and the willingness to sacrifice for the greater good,” he said.

He added that the public needs to practice Pancasila values so that they do not remain merely as memorised text, but instead serve as a guide for living. Consequently, the cultural parade was dedicated to reviving the character of heroism, patriotism, nationalism, and the spirit of love for the motherland within the community.

Through the Tresna Pancasila Cultural Parade, it is hoped that the spirit of Bung Karno and the values of Pancasila will continue to thrive among the people. Furthermore, the event serves as an inspiration for the younger generation to build a strong Indonesia, characterised by the nation’s noble values.

“In addition to strengthening the national spirit, the organisation of the Tresna Pancasila Cultural Parade is also expected to drive the tourism sector and the people’s economy,” he said.

Participants in the parade included the DIY Paskibraka (National Flag Hoisting Troop), symbolising the younger generation expected to carry forward national values and the spirit of Pancasila. Following the Paskibraka, brigades marched accompanied by the traditional gamelan music of the Yogyakarta Palace. The parade also featured various cultural art performances, with participants wearing traditional attire from various regions across Indonesia.
