Cultural event at Gedung Kesenian

JAKARTA (JP): Fifteen countries will participate in a cultural
event here, named Jakarta International Festival '95, between May
15 and May 21. Films from Japan, France, Germany, China, Korea
and Holland will be shown as part of the event, also dubbed
"Jakfest '95."

The official opening will take place at Gedung Kesenian in
Central Jakarta on May 18.

Several sites across the city will also host dance and musical
performances. Arts and crafts will be on show at the Jakarta
Convention Center between May 20 and 21, while a fashion show
will be held at Ancol Travelodge Hotel on May 20.

The theme of the event, the fifth since it was organized by
private parties and the municipality, is "East meets West."

Entrance to all performances is free. (anr)
