Culinary Festival Expected to Boost MSME Growth
Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Jakarta Provincial Government hopes culinary festivals such as the 2026 Festival Jajanan Bango (FJB) can help boost micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).
Juremi, Head of the Small and Medium Enterprises Division at the Jakarta Provincial Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Agency, said most MSMEs supported by the government through its Jakpreneur programme operate in the culinary sector.
“We call them KFC: Kuliner, Fashion, Craft. These are the three sectors most commonly pursued by Jakpreneur entrepreneurs in Jakarta,” he said at the opening of FJB 2026 at GBK City Forest in Central Jakarta on Saturday.
Juremi stressed the importance of cooperation between the regional government and other relevant stakeholders in efforts to support the sustainable development of MSMEs.
“Of course, Jakarta, as a regional government, cannot do this alone. Jakarta’s regional budget is only 79.59 trillion rupiah, which is very small compared with the city’s economy, whose gross regional domestic product is nearly 4,000 trillion rupiah. Imagine, that is only 1.9 per cent,” he said.
He expressed hope that FJB 2026, held on Saturday (24 October) and Sunday (25 October), would help increase the income and welfare of MSME operators in Jakarta.
FJB 2026 features more than 50 food stalls across four categories: Indonesian Originals, Fusion Creations, Bites, and Desserts & Drinks.
Visitors can sample a range of creative dishes at the festival, including tempeh orek tiramisu, special cendol iced drink with Bango soy sauce, Mallika butterscotch and soy caramel cheesecake salt bread.
