Jakarta – The Vice Chairman of the Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB), Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal, has emphasised that PKB’s existence must be felt and valued by society at all times, not merely in the lead-up to elections.

This statement was made by Cucun during a series of Ramadhan outreach activities at Pondok Pesantren Waratsatul Fuqoha and the Regional Secretariat of the PKB in Banjar District on Thursday, 26 February 2026.

“PKB is present not for seasonal politics. The work of our cadres must be felt by the people at all times, whenever and wherever. Cadres should not merely pursue positions, but instead become servants of the people,” said Cucun.

During his visit to Ponpes Waratsatul Fuqoha, Cucun, who also serves as Chair of PKB’s Regional Board in South Kalimantan, highlighted the implementation of Law No. 18 of 2019 concerning Islamic Boarding Schools.

He assured that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Muhaimin Iskandar (known as Cak Imin), the government is committed to revitalising boarding school infrastructure and advancing economic empowerment for Islamic pesantren.

Cucun also motivated the Islamic students not to feel inferior in the digital era. “The state has already granted equal recognition. Students must be confident and technologically literate. Do not fear dreaming big of becoming tomorrow’s leaders,” he added.

During the occasion, Cucun also issued specific instructions to cadres in Banjar District to enhance political performance in the upcoming election. He set a target to significantly increase PKB’s seats in the Banjar District Regional Legislative Assembly from 5 to 10 seats.

However, he reiterated that such victory must be grounded in the spirit of dedication.

“The blessings of the Qur’an must serve as energy for us to continue the struggle of the ulama and Muslim educators,” he stated.

The Ramadhan outreach activities also featured Qur’an recitation completion ceremonies and joint Qur’an study sessions attended by religious figures such as the Chairman of the Banjarese Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board, Dr. KH. Muslih Amri, and the Secretary of the South Kalimantan Nahdlatul Ulama Regional Board, Dr. H. Ahmad Fauzan Saleh.

As a demonstration of genuine concern, the event concluded with the presentation of assistance to Islamic teachers and students, as well as the distribution of Ramadhan packages to cadres and Muslim educators. This moment underscores PKB’s consistent position as a party championing the aspirations of the “sarong-wearing community” in South Kalimantan.
