Havana (ANTARA) - Cuba’s Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Saturday (28/3) condemned the United States for “blatantly lying” about the fuel blockade against the island. In a post on the social media platform X, Rodriguez stated that the US claims contradict its own executive orders and regulations, referring to the executive order of 29 January and subsequent US measures as proof of the “brutal blockade” against fuel supplies to Cuba. He said these measures include threats of sanctions against third countries and foreign companies supplying oil to Cuba, as well as hostile actions targeting oil tankers. Rodriguez added that Washington’s policy aims to weaken Cuba’s economy, hinder its development, cut off its sources of income, and limit the country’s access to markets and technology. Cuba has faced a severe economic and energy crisis due to US sanctions for decades. The United Nations (UN) states that the fuel shortage has driven the country into a humanitarian crisis.
