Havana (ANTARA) - Cuba on Friday (1/5) condemned the new United States (US) sanctions as unilateral coercive measures. “We firmly reject the recent unilateral coercive measures taken” by the US government, said Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez in a post on the social media platform X. These actions demonstrate an intent to impose collective punishment on the Cuban people, Rodriguez stated. He noted that the announcement coincided with 1 May, when millions of Cubans took to the streets to protest the US blockade and energy embargo. “These measures are extraterritorial and violate the United Nations Charter,” Rodriguez said, adding that the US has no right to impose its policies on Cuba or other countries and parties. The statement came after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday imposing new sanctions on Cuba.
