Muhammadiyah will establish a collaboration with the Founder and Chairman of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung (CT), to utilise waqf land. CT will undertake this effort to help improve the economy within Muhammadiyah.

“Because there is still a lot of Muhammadiyah’s waqf land that has not been managed or made productive, and hopefully, Mr. CT sees this as an economic opportunity,” said the Chairman of the Muhammadiyah Central Executive Board, Anwar Abbas, to reporters after a Ramadan discussion at the Muhammadiyah University of Tangerang, Banten, Thursday (26/2/2026).

Anwar believes that CT has the capacity to help Muhammadiyah develop the organisation’s economy. He hopes that CT can fulfil Muhammadiyah’s expectations.

“And Mr. CT, as someone who is experienced in the business world, we really hope that he can play a role in helping to achieve what Muhammadiyah wants,” he explained.

Anwar explained that the waqf land is planned to be used for the agricultural and fishery sectors. He wants the land to be productive and have a positive impact on many people.

“It is not possible for everything to be for schools, it is not possible for everything to be for mosques. So, some of it should be used for productive purposes, for agriculture, fisheries, and animal husbandry. I think so,” he said.

Anwar mentioned that if this happens, it can help supply the School Feeding Programme (SPPG). He wants the produce from Muhammadiyah’s land to have higher value.

“Moreover, the government now has the MBG (Free Nutritious Meal) program. How about if the waqf land can be managed to also supply the program, so that the price obtained by the SPPG can be cheaper, so that the food for children is more nutritious than what is available today,” he said.

“Because what is available today, in my opinion, is far from nutritious. It’s called nutritious food, free nutritious food, but the impression I get is that it is not nutritious,” he added.
