Chairman of CT Corp, Chairul Tanjung (CT), visited the residence of late Vice President Try Sutrisno to pay his condolences. CT described Sutrisno as a figure worthy of emulation.

“Of course, we are first saddened by the passing of Bapak Try Sutrisno. I knew him as a figure who should absolutely be a role model,” said CT at the residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Monday (2 March 2026).

CT revealed that his relationship with Try Sutrisno was very close. Their bond strengthened when CT became Chairman of the All-Indonesia Badminton Association (PBSI).

“It happens that I served as PBSI Chairman and he also served as PBSI Chairman. When I was PBSI Chairman, he was the Chairman of its Advisory Board. Our relationship was good, and our personal relationship was also good,” he said.

CT expressed hope that Sutrisno’s good conduct would be inherited by others. He again emphasised Try as a figure to be emulated.

“Of course we hope that everyone can inherit his personal character, which truly can serve as an exemplary role model for us all,” he said.

Try Sutrisno passed away at age 90 this morning at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto hospital. Previously, Sutrisno had been receiving treatment at RSPAD since 16 February.

Sutrisno’s body was laid to rest at a residence on Purwakarta Street Number 6 RT 08 RW 05, Menteng, Central Jakarta. His funeral prayers were held at the Sunda Kelapa Grand Mosque, Central Jakarta, before his body was taken to Kalibata Military Cemetery in South Jakarta.

Try Sutrisno served as Indonesia’s 6th Vice President from 1993 to 1998, serving alongside President Suharto. He was born in Surabaya in 1935.
