CSIS Report: US Patriot Missile Stockpile Drops Significantly
The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) think tank has reported that the United States has seen its supply of air defence missiles significantly reduced. According to calculations in the CSIS report, between 27 February and 27 July, the United States used between 1,503 and 1,571 Patriot missiles and between 174 and 218 THAAD interceptors. As of 27 February, the United States reportedly possessed 2,330 Patriot missiles and 452 THAAD interceptors. By 27 July, that stockpile had decreased to between 759 and 827 missiles and 234 to 278 interceptors, respectively. The report comes amid calls from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the United States to urgently supply 300 Patriot missiles before winter arrives.
