CSIS holds writing contest
JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian intellectuals have been invited to
take part in a scholarly writing contest on either international
relations or the exploration of local thinking and philosophy.
"The contest is being held to create a climate conducive to
scholarly writing," Hadi Soesastro, the Centre for Strategic and
International Studies executive director told The Jakarta Post.
The strategic international relations category is intended to
attract and stimulate talented university students, he said.
The second category on Indonesian philosophy is intended for
intellectuals at large.
The contest is held in commemoration of the Centre's 25th
anniversary this year.
Juwono Sudarsono, a noted political analyst will head the team
of judges in the international relations category. The winner and
runner-up will receive Rp 10 million and Rp 5 million in prize
money respectively, in addition to an award named after one of
the founders of the Centre, the late Ali Moertopo.
Mochtar Buchori, a noted intellectual, will head the jury for
the second category. The prizes are the same, although in this
category the award is named after the other founder of the
Centre, the late Soedjono Humardani.
Entries must be entered by July 31, mailed to CSIS at Jalan
Tanah Abang III No 23-27.
The winners will be announced at the Centre's anniversary
party on Sept. 18. (14)
