The strengthening of financial literacy among students is once again in the spotlight as interest from the younger generation in digital investments, including crypto assets, increases.

A collaboration between PT Pintu Kemana Saja (PINTU), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and Padjadjaran University (Unpad) is one effort to address this challenge through direct education in the campus environment.

The event titled Pintu Goes to Campus: Financial Literacy was held at Bale Sawala, Unpad Jatinangor, Bandung, attended by more than 200 students.

“It does seem that financial literacy, and now even crypto literacy and investments, is something very important that we must understand together. Because we know there are now so many financial products, so many financial problems that if we do not study them properly, if we do not know them, then this will cause problems in the future,” he said in a press release on Thursday (16/4/2026).

From the regulator’s perspective, OJK highlights the gap between literacy and inclusion levels, particularly in crypto asset investments.

Head of the Department of Regulation and Licensing for Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets at OJK, Djoko Kurnijanto, describes this phenomenon as the main challenge.

According to Djoko, this situation encourages OJK to continue strengthening education so that the public does not just follow trends without adequate understanding.

“This is what makes us continue to take steps on how to ensure that people investing in crypto do not just follow along,” he continued.

He emphasised that the basic principles of investment still apply, including in crypto assets. OJK prioritises the “2L” philosophy, namely legal and logical.

From the industry’s side, PINTU sees that the growth in the number of crypto investors, both globally and domestically, is progressing very rapidly.

However, this increase has not yet been fully matched with adequate understanding.

PINTU’s Chief Marketing Officer, Timothius Martin, revealed that globally there are around 700 million people who have invested or traded in crypto.
