Crypto Transactions Slow Down, OJK Strengthens Industry Ecosystem
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) is encouraging the strengthening of the cryptocurrency industry in line with the slowdown in transactions in February 2026. The value of cryptocurrency asset transactions was recorded at Rp24.33 trillion in February 2026, lower than the January figure of Rp29.28 trillion. The Executive Head of Supervision for Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets, and Crypto Assets at OJK, Adi Budiarso, during the March 2026 Monthly Commissioners’ Meeting Press Conference in Jakarta on Monday, explained that the slowdown was influenced by developments in global economic dynamics, particularly due to conflicts in the Middle East. “This is not detached from global factors. Market cycles, where market sentiment with several events, especially related to geopolitics, also affect decentralised finance platforms worldwide,” said Adi. In addition, Adi stated that 2024 was a strong bull market phase. However, after reaching its peak, the crypto market in 2025 entered a consolidation phase marked by price corrections and a decline in transaction volumes. Amid these conditions, OJK stated that it continues to strengthen the development of the crypto ecosystem through more structural measures. OJK is promoting the enhancement of governance for exchanges, clearing, custodians, and crypto asset traders to protect consumer interests.
