Crypto Tax Revenue Nears Rp 2 Trillion, Is the Industry Becoming More 'Orderly'?
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The surge in tax revenue from cryptocurrency asset transactions approaching Rp 2 trillion serves as a new indicator: an industry once viewed as wild is now moving more orderly and integrated into the state system.
Tokocrypto revealed that cryptocurrency asset trading activities contribute to state revenue, with a continuing upward trend alongside the growth of digital asset transactions in Indonesia.
According to data from the Directorate General of Taxes of the Ministry of Finance, tax revenue from cryptocurrency asset transactions reached Rp 1.96 trillion from the implementation of this policy on 1 May 2022 until the end of February 2026. This figure is an increase from the previous month’s Rp 1.93 trillion.
Of the total, Rp 1.09 trillion came from Income Tax (PPh) Article 22, while Rp 875.31 billion came from domestic Value Added Tax (PPN).
Tokocrypto’s Chief Financial Officer, Sefcho Rizal, assessed that this achievement shows digital asset trading activities are increasingly integrated into the national tax system.
“The increase in tax revenue from the crypto sector reflects that this industry is developing in a healthier and more structured direction. Not only in terms of transaction volume, but also in the awareness of industry players and users in fulfilling tax obligations,” said Sefcho in a written statement on Friday (3/4/2026).
On the other hand, the government is also committed to strengthening supervision and expanding the tax base in the digital economy sector to increase business compliance while optimising state revenue.
Collaboration between industry players and tax consultant partners is deemed important to enhance literacy and build a more transparent and sustainable crypto ecosystem.
Business players have positively welcomed the increase in tax revenue as an indicator of the maturing crypto industry in Indonesia.
“At Tokocrypto, we ensure that all user transaction activities are recorded and reported in accordance with regulations to the Directorate General of Taxes. This is part of our commitment to support accountable industry governance while increasing public trust in the crypto ecosystem,” he said.
Tokocrypto also encourages education for users, including how to report crypto taxes through the Annual Tax Return using the Coretax platform.
“With better understanding, we are optimistic that the compliance rate will continue to increase and provide positive impacts for state revenue,” he added.
