Bitcoin (BTC) has once again demonstrated positive momentum; after trading in the US$64,000 range on 17 August, Bitcoin broke through US$80,000 on 25 August. This movement was supported by US Treasury buyback policies and increasing capital inflows into Bitcoin spot Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs), altering global macro sentiment and reflecting renewed demand in the crypto market.

Responding to this development, Indodax Chief Marketing Officer Aloysia Dian noted that this Bitcoin surge reflects more than just short-term price movement, but also a shift in sentiment visible through various market indicators. Bitcoin’s momentum over recent days shows a significant change in sentiment.

“Price strengthening is occurring alongside increased demand through Bitcoin spot ETFs and improving market conditions. However, the rapid rise must be balanced with discipline in managing risk, especially for investors who are newly returning to seek opportunities in the market,” said Aloysia, as quoted in her statement on Sunday, 20 August 2026.

One of the macro factors attracting market attention is the US Treasury buyback policy. This policy is part of the Treasury’s efforts to maintain liquidity and support smooth trading. The US Treasury Department has increased the repurchase of long-term government bonds, which previously pressured yields and re-ignited interest in risk assets, including cryptocurrency.

Regarding demand, Bitcoin spot ETFs in the United States have recorded positive inflows once again. According to SoSoValue data, Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded net inflows between 17–25 August 2026, with total inflows reaching approximately US$2.57 billion. Simultaneously, Crypto Quant noted that the Bitcoin Bull Score increased from 30 to 80 within a week, reflecting high optimism and risk appetite among market participants.

After moving within a relatively limited range in early August, Bitcoin began to accelerate on 19 August, rising by more than 20% in three days. This increase, further strengthened by short squeeze actions, subsequently pushed Bitcoin past US$80,000 on 25 August. While this change signals strengthening buy orders, the rapid pace of the rise means that the risk of volatility must still be closely monitored.
