REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Interest among the younger generation in crypto assets has continued to rise in recent years. This situation underscores the need to strengthen literacy so that investment growth is not solely driven by trends, but also by an understanding of risks.

The CFX crypto exchange, together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), held education on crypto assets for students at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia in Depok on Thursday (9/4/2026), as an effort to reinforce that understanding.

Based on a 2025 study by LPEM FEB UI, the majority of digital financial asset owners come from the under-35 age group. This positions the younger generation as the main driver of national digital finance ecosystem growth.

Head of the Executive for Supervision of Financial Sector Technology Innovation, Digital Financial Assets and Crypto Assets at OJK, Adi Budiarso, stated that literacy is the primary foundation in industry development.

“Our main task here as regulators, business actors, and academics is not just about accelerating adoption rates, but ensuring that consumers do not just ‘follow trends’ or get carried away by FOMO, and receive adequate protection,” said Adi.

CFX President Director Subani said education is needed to maintain a balance between industry growth and consumer protection.

“The CFX Crypto Exchange organises CFX Connect as a form of cross-sector collaboration to improve literacy on crypto assets among students, to guide the growth of the crypto asset industry in Indonesia,” she said.

The literacy programme is also complemented by a digital financial market analysis competition involving students as part of strengthening practical understanding.

Manager of Student Affairs at FEB UI, Anna Amalyah Agus, assessed that collaboration between regulators, academics, and industry players is important to ensure directed development of the ecosystem.

“It is hoped that this initiative can have a positive impact and serve as an initial step in establishing a crypto-based investment centre in the campus environment,” she said.

This education effort is considered important so that public participation in the crypto market is not just driven by trends, but based on an understanding of risks and measured investment strategies.
