Public interest in crypto asset investment in Indonesia continues to show a growth trend. However, amid the rising number of investors, many prospective users still hesitate to begin due to the complexity of available information or enter the market without adequate understanding of the risks and characteristics of crypto assets.

Several industry players believe that education is a key factor in encouraging healthier and more sustainable growth in crypto investment. Understanding asset types, selecting the right platform, and basic investment strategies are considered important for beginner investors.

Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) are cited as the two most recommended crypto assets for new investors. Bitcoin is known as “digital gold” for its role as a store of value, while Ethereum has broader utility through the decentralised application ecosystem built upon it.

Additionally, there is a category of stablecoins such as USDT and USDC, whose value is pegged to the US dollar, resulting in lower volatility compared to other crypto assets. Meanwhile, thousands of other crypto assets, or altcoins, generally carry a higher level of risk.

When choosing a crypto asset trading platform, investors are also urged to verify its legality and security aspects. In Indonesia, crypto asset trading platforms are required to obtain a licence and operate under the supervision of the Financial Services Authority (OJK).

Licensed platforms must meet various requirements, ranging from capital adequacy and verified security systems to the implementation of know your customer (KYC) procedures and customer asset protection.

Beyond regulatory aspects, investors are also beginning to consider the range of features offered by platforms. Some platforms, including Mobee, provide not only spot trading services but also features like Flexi Earn, Dual Investment, and access to US stock tokens to support investment strategy diversification.

After selecting a platform, investors need to go through a registration process that generally includes account creation, phone number verification, and a KYC process via uploading identity documents and a selfie. Investors are also advised to activate two-factor authentication (2FA) as an additional security layer before starting to trade.

In terms of investment strategy, the Dollar Cost Averaging (DCA) method is one of the most widely recommended approaches for beginner investors. This strategy involves buying assets in a fixed amount periodically, regardless of the current market price conditions.

The DCA approach is considered helpful in reducing the risk of errors in market timing. Several platforms have even provided an Auto Invest feature that allows asset purchases to be made automatically according to a schedule set by the user.

For investors who already hold crypto assets and have a long-term orientation, earn features also serve as an alternative to optimise owned assets. Through features like Flexi Earn, investors can obtain additional yields on stored assets.

Nevertheless, industry players remind that crypto investment still carries high risk due to significant price volatility. Therefore, investors are advised to only use funds they are prepared to lose, avoid placing all funds in a single asset or platform, and refrain from making investment decisions driven by fear of missing out (FOMO).

With adequate understanding, the selection of the right platform, and the application of measured investment strategies, crypto asset investment is considered accessible to the wider public without needing to start with large capital.
