The growing number of crypto asset investors in Indonesia has made understanding the characteristics and risks of these instruments increasingly important. Investors need not only to know the potential for profit but also to comprehend how to manage price volatility and security risks.

According to data from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the number of crypto asset investors in Indonesia reached 22.69 million as of June 2026. This growing interest has prompted industry players to strengthen educational initiatives, particularly for young professionals who are beginning to view crypto as part of their investment portfolios but may lack a full understanding of the products and their associated risks.

One such initiative is the ‘Pintu Goes to Office’ programme, held by PT Pintu Kemana Saja (PINTU) in collaboration with PT Ruang Raya Indonesia (Ruangguru) at Ruangguru’s headquarters. PINTU’s Chief Marketing Officer, Timothius Martin, noted that many young employees in the technology sector are starting to explore crypto assets without fully grasping the product characteristics, risks, or how to manage them wisely.

‘We are seeing more young workers, especially in the tech industry, looking at crypto as part of their investment portfolio, but they do not yet fully understand the product characteristics, risks, and how to manage them wisely,’ Timothius said. He added that education must be delivered in an applicable and easy-to-understand manner to help the public comprehend the financial instruments they are interested in.

The educational sessions include not only basic material on crypto assets but also case studies and interactive Q&A sessions to help participants connect the knowledge to their trading and investment decisions. Participants are also introduced to platform features designed to support measured and disciplined investment activities.

Ruangguru’s Chief Financial Officer, Arman Wiratmoko, stated that financial literacy is an integral part of employee development and well-being. He emphasised that adequate understanding is necessary so that investment decisions are not merely driven by trends. ‘We believe that financial literacy is an inseparable part of employee self-development,’ he said.

Security aspects also form a key part of the educational material, given the increasing attention to various fraud schemes targeting novice investors. Understanding how to maintain transaction security is considered a vital component of crypto asset literacy.

Timothius concluded that knowledgeable investors are essential for building a more mature crypto ecosystem. ‘We believe that educated traders and investors will be the foundation of a more mature crypto ecosystem. We hope this initiative will encourage the emergence of more traders and investors who understand the opportunities and risks associated with crypto assets, enabling them to participate responsibly in supporting the development of the crypto asset industry in Indonesia,’ he said.
