Crypto Industry Grows, Influencers' Role Becomes Key to Education
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — The Indonesian Blockchain Association (ABI) together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK) is once again holding Crypto Literacy Month (BLK) 2026, which runs throughout April to May 2026. Entering its fourth year of implementation, this education programme arrives with a broader and more inclusive scope. The activities target various groups, from the general public, academics, influencers, technology developers, to law enforcement officials. In one of the panel sessions, the role of influencers and content creators came under the spotlight within the crypto ecosystem. With the increasing consumption of digital information, this group is considered to have a strategic role in delivering education while shaping public perceptions of crypto assets. Therefore, BLK 2026 emphasises the involvement of influencers and content creators to minimise misinformation and promote wider crypto literacy. “Platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and others are widely used by influencers to convey news. However, beyond that, this also becomes a business field for influencers, as it involves marketing activities, information distribution, and education,” he stated in a press release on Saturday (11/4/2026). He added that the contributions of influencers so far have played an important role in the growth of the crypto industry, particularly in bridging complex information to the public. “Crypto is a topic that is not easy because it is quite technical, and there are many projects out there. Without the role of parties educating the public, the messages conveyed have the potential to be misleading or not delivered well. The crypto ecosystem in Indonesia would not have developed as it has today without the contributions of influencers and content creators who promote the crypto market,” he explained. As the industry develops, anonymous accounts are emerging whose voices cannot be held accountable but have significant influence. “In several cases, including those experienced by INDODAX, such accounts engage in defamation and black campaigns that are detrimental, both to companies and individuals. Therefore, stricter regulation and supervision are needed to ensure the crypto ecosystem remains healthy and integrity-driven,” he said. According to him, on one hand, the role of influencers is very helpful in spreading understanding to the public, but on the other hand, clear regulations are still needed to protect the public.
