Indodax Chief Marketing Officer Aloysia Dian said the development of quantum computers is one of the strategic issues that the blockchain ecosystem needs to understand, particularly in relation to cryptographic security and infrastructure development. "The discussion on quantum computing needs to be viewed as part of the effort to build an increasingly mature blockchain ecosystem that is ready to face future technological developments," Aloysia said in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

According to Aloysia, technological developments always bring challenges as well as opportunities. The potential of quantum computers against cryptographic systems has also become a concern for the global community. However, she emphasised that quantum computers are not yet a direct threat to blockchain at present. The risk that concerns researchers and developers is more directed at the possibility that future quantum computers will have the ability to break the cryptographic systems used to secure digital assets.

"Therefore, it is important for all industry players to start understanding the direction of this development so that the ecosystem can adapt gradually through discussion and education," she said. Aloysia explained that the development of the blockchain ecosystem over the past decade has given birth to various innovations. Ethereum, for example, has become the foundation for the development of decentralised finance (DeFi), NFTs, smart contract-based applications, and asset tokenisation.

Along with these developments, according to her, security standards and infrastructure need to be continuously strengthened to be able to adapt to technological changes. On the other hand, quantum computers are not only viewed from the risk perspective. The technology also has the potential to accelerate various complex computing processes and open up innovation opportunities in various sectors once it reaches a certain level of maturity.

The global blockchain community, Aloysia continued, is also continuously conducting research and developing new approaches to maintain ecosystem security as quantum computing technology evolves. She assessed that readiness to face these changes requires a long process, starting from research, testing, and the development of security standards, to collaboration among industry players.

"Building a blockchain ecosystem that is ready to face the quantum computing era is not a simple process. It takes time for research and testing, the development of new security standards, and cross-ecosystem collaboration so that the transition can be carried out gradually while maintaining user trust," she said. Aloysia added that Indodax is encouraging increased literacy and discussion about the future of blockchain and cryptography through the ETH Genesis: Quantum Leap forum. The forum discusses the implications of quantum computing technology for blockchain, ecosystem readiness, and collaboration in building long-term technological foundations.

According to Aloysia, the discussion on the crypto asset industry also needs to be broadened so that it does not only focus on price movements, but also covers the technological developments and security systems that underpin the industry. "Education, research, and collaboration are considered key to building an Indonesian digital asset ecosystem that is increasingly mature, secure, and sustainable," she said.
