Crypto Assets, Stocks, and Gold Becoming Increasingly Interconnected
Bitget is expanding its trading business across crypto asset markets, traditional markets, and institutional trading through its Universal Exchange (UEX) strategy, as non-crypto asset contributions have reached 40 per cent of the company’s total trading volume.
This move is part of Bitget’s strategy as it enters its ninth year, following its 8th-anniversary celebrations. The company aims for the UEX platform to expand user access to diverse asset classes within a single trading platform.
Bitget noted that one in four new users currently begins their trading journey via rToken. The company is also developing artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities through the AI Playbook, designed to function as autonomous trading agents.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that eight years in crypto assets has revealed rapid changes in market structure and industry trading behaviour. “Eight years in the crypto world feels much longer than eight years in any other industry. We have navigated various cycles, witnessed narratives come and go, and seen the market evolve very quickly,” she said.
According to Chen, market developments are now trending towards the increasing convergence of crypto and traditional markets, while AI begins to transform the trading experience and institutional participation continues to rise.
“UEX is our step to embrace this developmental direction, and the next chapter for Bitgo will be far greater than crypto assets alone,” she added.
UEX is an exchange model that combines crypto assets, traditional financial markets (stocks, commodities, forex), and AI technology into a single platform.
Meanwhile, Bitget’s primary focus moving forward is targeting institutional trading clients. As of the second quarter of 2026, net assets from institutional clients recorded a 45 per cent growth compared to the end of 2025.
During the same period, the number of Bitget’s core active market makers increased from 90 to 248 companies. Bitget subsequently plans to strengthen transaction execution quality, API infrastructure, quantitative trading, services for institutional clients, and cross-asset account capabilities.
This expansion positions UEX as a core part of Bitget’s growth strategy, with trading coverage expanding from crypto assets to stocks, ETFs, commodities, foreign exchange, and precious metals such as gold.
