Crying at Dawn, Toddler in Karawang Abused by Mother's Boyfriend at Hotel

Karawang - A 2.5-year-old toddler was abused by her mother’s boyfriend at a hotel in Karawang, West Java. The abuse allegedly occurred after the child started crying.

As reported by detikJabar on Sunday (2/15/2026), the abuse took place on Thursday (2/12) at around 2:00 AM WIB in a hotel room. Karawang Police Public Relations Officer Ipda Cep Wildan said the mother was staying with her boyfriend, IP (30), and had brought her child to a hotel in West Karawang.

“The mother was known to be staying at the hotel with her 2.5-year-old child. She was staying with a man with the initials IP (30), who is known to be the mother’s boyfriend,” Wildan said.

The abuse allegedly occurred while the toddler’s mother left the hotel for 30 minutes to buy food. He said the child was already in a severely injured condition when the mother returned to the room.

“After returning from buying food, the mother found her child was no longer sleeping peacefully but was in a heartbreaking condition with severe injuries on the body and face,” he said.

The suspect allegedly abused the toddler because of the child’s crying. IP has now been named a suspect and detained.

“The victim sustained serious injuries based on the medical examination results. The victim is currently receiving medical treatment and support. The trigger was trivial — the victim was crying after being left by the mother, but the suspect did not want to hear the noise and abused the victim inside the room,” he said.
