Bank Indonesia (BI) is accepting cash exchanges for banknotes of various denominations even if some are crumpled or worn. ‘We accept exchanges of notes from different denominations and issue years, as long as they remain legal tender and are not damaged,’ said Fenty Tirtasari Ekarina, Senior Analyst in the Money Management Department. Speaking in a podcast titled ‘Jaga Harga, Jaga Rupiah: Pengendalian Inflasi Jelang HBKN bersama SERAMBI 2026’ in Jakarta on Wednesday, she noted that notes to be exchanged do not need to be taped, sealed in plastic, or stapled. ‘The exchange cannot be performed by a proxy; you must bring the exact amount to be exchanged. The notes have been arranged according to their issue year and denomination,’ she added. ‘SERAMBI 2026’ is a rupiah money-exchange service for the public implemented to mark the National Religious Holiday (HBKN), specifically Idul Fitri 1447 Hijriah, by ensuring a sufficient and commercially quality supply of rupiah. In the Jakarta region, BI provides up to Rp52.6 trillion in physical cash, distributed through banks. To exchange money, the public must first place an order on the Pintar application at https://pintar.bi.go.id. ‘After successfully placing an order, you can visit the location on the date and time listed on the booking confirmation, bringing your ID (KTP) and the rupiah to be exchanged,’ said Fenty.
