Crowded Pasar Minggu

Crowded Pasar Minggu

From Republika

As a public transportation user, I am glad to see the
successful measures taken by South Jakarta administration to curb
street vendors at the Pasar Minggu bus terminal soon after the
Idul Fitri holiday was over. The traffic looked neat and smooth.

Unfortunately, this did not last long as things are now back
to where they were before. There are traffic jams around Pasar
Minggu and Jl. Raya Ragunan. Vendors are everywhere along the
street.

Being very crowded, only one of the four lanes can be used for
public transportation. The congestion extends to the Ramayana
department store and further, to Pasar Minggu public hall.
Surprisingly, the traffic jam occurs right in front of the local
police office.

Also, an unpleasant smell spreads everywhere. We can smell
this at the three intersections toward the bus terminal. It comes
from garbage. How come, Mr. Mayor? When will we enjoy an orderly
and comfortable situation again?
