Crowd begins preparing banners in front of DPR building

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Crowds preparing to take part in a demonstration outside the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Thursday (27/8) have begun preparing various banners stating their demands at the site.

ANTARA observed in Jakarta on Wednesday that dozens of people had gathered while making banners using white cloth and spray paint.

A number of demonstrators were seen writing demands and protest messages on the cloth.

Banners and attributes visible at the scene included those belonging to the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB), the United Indonesian People’s Alliance (ARIB), as well as banners reading “No Viral No Justice”.

Around the location, a number of online motorcycle taxi drivers were also seen gathering and showing support for the crowd. Several of them helped unload donated goods from arriving vehicles.

Logistics in the form of food and mineral water also began to accumulate at the site. Several private vehicles were seen arriving, with passengers getting out to distribute food to the demonstrators.

In addition to food, a number of residents were also seen giving money as a form of support for those taking part in the protest.

Based on information gathered, hundreds of residents from Pati, Central Java, are scheduled to follow to Jakarta and arrive on Wednesday to join the demonstration on Thursday (27/8) in the MPR/DPR RI parliamentary area.

In the protest, the crowd plans, among other things, to urge the House of Representatives to immediately pass the Asset Forfeiture Bill.
