The Chairman of the Sumatra Post-Disaster PRR Task Force, Muhammad Tito Karnavian, stated that the central government has released substantial budgetary support to ensure that rehabilitation and reconstruction processes are carried out swiftly and accurately in the affected areas. This was disclosed following a meeting with the Chairman of the PRR Task Force Steering Committee, Pratikno, in Jakarta.

“This recovery requires budget allocation. We are grateful to President Prabowo Subianto for providing an additional regional financial transfer (TKD) of Rp 10.6 trillion for three provinces, all of which has been fully transferred,” Tito said in a written statement on Monday (18/05/2026).

He noted that the funds are now with the local governments and are being closely monitored to ensure they focus on the most urgent needs of the affected communities. “This is what we are overseeing. The funds are in the regencies, cities, and provinces. We are monitoring this to ensure that planning is targeted and rapid, especially in handling urgent matters.”

In addition to regional financial transfers, several ministries are active through sectoral programmes. For instance, the Ministry of Agriculture has distributed over Rp 877 billion for land optimisation, post-disaster agricultural rehabilitation, and the construction of irrigation systems across the three affected provinces.

In the social sector, assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs has reached Rp 896.2 billion, with a distribution realisation of 9t6.75 per cent. This aid includes household supplies, living allowances, and economic stimulants for survivors in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (BNPB) is also accelerating recovery through assistance for the repair of lightly and moderately damaged houses, with a total value of Rp 655.18 billion. This aid helps thousands of survivor families to begin repairing their homes and reorganising their lives post-disaster.

Cross-agency collaboration is also evident in the revitalisation of educational units affected by the disaster. To date, the total education revitalisation aid provided by the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has reached Rp 2.94 trillion, covering 3,058 school revitalisation projects across the three affected provinces. The first phase of distribution has exceeded Rp 1.96 trillion and is being strengthened through cooperation with the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) to accelerate the construction of educational facilities.

“Cross-sectoral funding serves as a vital foundation to ensure that recovery does not only focus on physical construction, but also gradually and sustainably revitalises the socio-economic life of the community,” he concluded.
