JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The transfer of the case file for the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus to the Military Court II-08 in Jakarta has drawn sharp criticism from various parties.

Several parties doubt whether the military court process can uncover the intellectual actors behind the attack and the true motive.

The case file against four TNI soldiers, members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS), was handed over by the Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta on Thursday (16/4/2026).

Head of Military Prosecutor II-07 Jakarta, Colonel Chk Andri Wijaya, stated that the case file meets the requirements for trial.

“This case file has met the formal and material requirements, so it can be processed and become the prosecutor’s opinion report and the legal opinion letter from the Head of Military Prosecutor,” said Andri at the Military Court II-08 Jakarta on Thursday morning.

The soldiers are charged with multiple articles, ranging from a maximum prison threat of 12 years to 7 years.

The prosecutor’s side stated that the motive for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus was a personal grudge.

Sceptical views then emerged. The figure behind the acid attack terror on Andrie Yunus remains shrouded in darkness.

On that occasion, Andri Wijaya also revealed the interim motive for the acid attack on Andrie Yunus by the BAIS TNI members.

“For the motive, up to this point what we have investigated through the examination report is that the motive carried out by the defendants is still a personal grudge against Brother A (the victim),” he said.

“This is an insult to the rationality of the law. This is an insult to public rationality,” said Usman in a webinar on Thursday night.

He emphasised that the public has understood that this case involves many BAIS TNI members and points to an organised crime.

“The public’s reasoning that already understands the meaning of the involvement of many members of the Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS) in this case,” he continued.
