Crispy Serundeng MSME Advances with BRI Support
A white-painted house is hosting a training session for its members, mostly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), on Monday (18 May) afternoon. Dian, an MSME owner, descended from the second floor after attending a finance class since midday. The owner of the ‘Dirasa’ brand shared how her business has grown through training at BRI’s Rumah BUMN in West Jakarta.
‘I work in the culinary sector with the Dirasa brand. I am the owner,’ Dian said during the afternoon conversation.
Before starting her culinary business, Dian worked in an office for nearly 20 years, including in insurance marketing. Having attended vocational school, she was confident she could succeed in the food industry.
Dian currently sells nearly 20 products, mostly dry snacks and food items. Dirasa, she said, is known for its crispy serundeng, a unique product. She explained that her business has previously ‘visited’ Europe.
‘There are 20 products I sell, including dry snacks and food. My crispy serundeng is perhaps the only one in Indonesia. I wanted to develop this product because there isn’t much competition and it’s unique. Last week, my products were curated by buyers from Abu Dhabi and passed. Previously, my companion took them to Europe and Abu Dhabi, and thankfully, we received repeat orders,’ Dian said, showing photos of her products in Europe.
Dian’s products frequently appear at exhibitions. Throughout the conversation, she showed several photos of herself with notable figures and officials, including former Jakarta Vice Governor Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, holding Dirasa’s crispy serundeng.
One of the most memorable moments for Dian during her meeting with Sandiaga Uno was his feedback on her product. Sandiaga, she said, expressed his fondness for the crispy serundeng’s taste. During their meeting, Dian added, Sandiaga suggested changing the transparent packaging of Dirasa’s serundeng. Following this advice, Dian’s business has continued to grow.
‘I first used transparent packaging three years ago,’ she recalled.
Joining BRI’s Rumah BUMN, QRIS Support
Dian has been attending training sessions at BRI’s Rumah BUMN on Jl. Letjen S Parman, West Jakarta, for good reason. She was initially encouraged to open a savings account and offered free QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard) registration.
‘I was initially offered to open a savings account because they provided free QRIS registration, which attracted me to join as a member. Thanks to QRIS, all digital transactions have been easier for me. I use QRIS for incoming payments, especially sales, so it’s separate from personal finances and more organised,’ Dian said.
Dian has been participating in various Rumah BUMN BRI programmes for over two years. The benefits for her business development are evident. Despite her extensive experience, she expressed a desire to keep learning for the sake of her business.
‘Frequently. It’s been two years. I’m glad that at Rumah BUMN, our sales have improved in quality. We always gain knowledge we never had before. Rumah BUMN always offers business-related training. Thank you for providing useful knowledge,’ she said.
Returning to the packaging issue, Dian shared how BRI assisted her significantly. She received 500 new packaging units when she first switched her packaging. ‘When I first changed the packaging, BRI helped me with 500 pieces—it was a stroke of luck to receive this support from BRI when I needed it. After they ran out, I ordered more directly from the packaging factory,’ she said.
BRI’s Rumah BUMN serves as an incubation hub for member MSMEs, guided by BRI to scale up through training, access to capital, and market opportunities. The Jakarta-based Rumah BUMN promotes digitalisation to increase public awareness and expand their markets. Various training programmes are designed to help MSMEs grow.
‘At Rumah BUMN, business owners or MSMEs receive training to sharpen entrepreneurial skills, digital guidance, and access to capital and market networks,’ said Jajang Rohmana, Coordinator of Rumah BUMN Jakarta.
Jajang stated that Rumah BUMN Jakarta supports MSMEs in scaling up. ‘Every smile from an MSME owner who successfully grows is energy for us,’ he added.
