Crisis and confidence
Crisis and confidence
From Bisnis Indonesia
We appreciate the step taken by the President and his
ministers to contribute their basic salaries for one year to help
those who have been laid off from work in the wake of the
economic crisis.
The problem is whether such contributions will be sufficient
to cope with the crisis, which has affected the majority of the
people.
One should realize that a position entrusted to one must not
be interpreted as a fortune to benefit oneself and one's family
or group.
The nation's leaders should consistently uphold justice, law
certainty and honesty and do away with corruption and nepotism.
It is true that the storm will eventually pass, but how to deal
with the damage caused by the storm should be the focus of our
attention.
