A vicious criminal gang that assaulted an elderly couple in Cileungsi, Bogor, West Java, has been apprehended through police undercover operations. The perpetrators had tortured their victims.

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto stated that the robbery took place at the victims’ residence in Jatisari Village, Cileungsi District, on 8 September 2025 at approximately 01:00 WIB. The victims were an elderly couple named Samah (66) and Hamim (69).

“The victims were a husband and wife. The first victim is an elderly woman with initials S, aged 66 years, and her husband with initials H, aged 69 years,” said Wikha during a press conference on Monday (16 March 2026).

“The perpetrators are believed to number approximately six people, who had been surveilling the location since the previous day, and at 1 in the morning, the perpetrators entered and immediately ambushed both victims,” he added.

He also explained that the gang was apprehended after police conducted an undercover operation. Police officers posed as electricity company personnel.

“Yesterday the Sub-District Police Chief came undercover, pretending to be a state electricity company technician who was going to install a pole, and ultimately made an arrest of the primary perpetrator with initials M,” he continued.

Wikha explained that the robbery gang torturing the elderly couple was exposed after a perpetrator with initials K was arrested by Batang Police, Central Java Regional Police, in connection with livestock theft. Following that arrest, the identity of perpetrator E emerged, who was subsequently apprehended in Cianjur, West Java.

“From coordination between Cileungsi Police Sub-District and Batang Police, (perpetrator K) was one of the theft perpetrators in Cileungsi. From further information obtained, there were 5 other perpetrators involved, and this was followed up with the arrest of perpetrator E in Cianjur,” explained Wikha.

Currently, said Wikha, two perpetrators with initials M and E remain under interrogation at Cileungsi Police Sub-District, whilst perpetrator K is being questioned at Batang Police due to involvement in a different case.

“Regarding the other perpetrators, we are still in pursuit at this time. Cileungsi Police Sub-District has coordinated with Bogor Police to apprehend the remaining suspects,” said Wikha.

Robbery of Money and Vehicles

The perpetrators, according to Wikha, took several items belonging to the elderly couple. These included a car, motorcycle and Rp 54 million in cash.

“From these two victims, several items were stolen by the perpetrators. First, an Avanza vehicle with its ownership documents, then a motorcycle with its ownership documents, then also ownership documents for a pickup truck but the vehicle was not taken or seized. Additionally, Rp 54 million in cash,” he stated.

Torture of Victims

During the crime, the perpetrators bound the hands and feet and taped the eyes of Samah and Hamim. Both victims were discovered by relatives that evening with their heads covered in sacking.

“Both victims were discovered by their relative at 2 in the morning on the same day, with their eyes bound with tape and their faces covered with sacking. Subsequently, their relative on the following morning, named A, reported the incident to Cileungsi Police Sub-District,” said Wikha.

The perpetrators also struck elderly Samah in the eyes and ears, damaging her hearing. This occurred because elderly Samah was deemed to have resisted.

“For victim S, because she resisted she suffered violence by being struck such that both her eyes were bruised when discovered. Her mouth and ears were bleeding, and for some time afterwards victim S experienced hearing loss, though her condition has since improved,” said Wikha.

Role of Perpetrators

Wikha stated that M, together with his gang members, had committed crimes at 50 separate locations in Central Java and West Java. The proceeds from his crimes were used by M to purchase land and villas.

“The primary perpetrator, with initials M. According to interrogation, the gang had committed crimes at 50 separate locations in Central Java and West Java. The proceeds from his crimes have been used to purchase villas, land, and other property,” said Wikha.

Cileungsi Police Sub-District Chief Kompol Edison added that perpetrator M served as the mastermind and leader of the robbery gang. At the time of the incident, M was the perpetrator who gagged and struck the elderly victim Samah (66) because she was deemed to have resisted.

“(Perpetrator M) is the mastermind and leader who directed the roles of each member. (M’s role during the robbery) Binding, gagging, and striking (the victim),” said Edison in a separate interview.

Perpetrator M, according to Edison, was known for being slippery and had repeatedly evaded capture. The apprehension of M was carried out dramatically. Kompol Edison was directly involved in the operation and posed as an electricity company technician.

“The perpetrator rarely left his hiding place, so by posing as an electricity company technician we could proceed directly to the location of his house, as though we were checking a pole or meter. Praise be to God we were able to secure the perpetrator,” said Edison.
