Crime Victims Reluctant to Report, Process Deemed Still Complicated

Although security levels are considered fairly good, a Tempo Data Science (TDS) survey has found ongoing obstacles in police reporting services. Of the 17% of respondents who admitted to experiencing or knowing about property crimes, only 42.4% reported to the police, while 42.9% chose not to report. Some respondents cited the reporting process, deemed complicated, as the main reason, at 26.3%. Additionally, 25.3% of respondents stated they were not confident the report would be followed up, and 18.2% considered the losses suffered relatively small, thus reluctant to report. For violent crime cases, the reporting rate was recorded higher at 62%. However, the reasons for not reporting remain similar, particularly regarding perceptions of a complicated process and feeling it would not be followed up. These findings indicate that improving the quality of services, especially in the initial reporting stage, remains a task that the police must address.
