Police have ensured that the victims received rapid assistance and that the project site remains under monitoring to prevent similar occurrences.

“We urge local residents to remain calm and to immediately report any potential hazards through the 110 Call Centre so that handling can be carried out quickly and accurately,” he added.

Cause of the Explosion

Police revealed that the explosion occurred while officials were inspecting clean water pipe excavations. During the drilling process, an electrical cable was struck.

“It was a clean water pipe excavation. During a re-inspection before work proceeded, it turned out there was also a PLN cable there. It hit the breaker. It was a high-voltage cable, and it exploded there,” said Cilandak Police Chief, Kompol Gusprihatin Zen, when contacted on Monday (8/6).

He confirmed that the cable involved was a high-voltage line.
