Crime roundup: Air gun seller arrested, debt collector intimidation investigated

A number of criminal and security incidents occurred in the DKI Jakarta area on Thursday (25/6), ranging from the arrest of an air gun seller in North Jakarta to debt collectors intimidating a motorcyclist.

Police arrested a man with the initials MF, also known as B, suspected of buying and selling air guns on Jalan Panaitan, Tanjung Priok Port, North Jakarta. “From the disclosure, we secured evidence of 15 air guns of various types from the perpetrator, 68 packs of gold pellets, 26 magazines, three boxes of Co2 canisters, two gas canister mounts, 42 trigger pins and other items from the perpetrator,” said Tanjung Priok Port Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP AA Ngurah Made Pandu Prabawa in Jakarta on Thursday.

Police also apprehended a 31-year-old man with the initials MAR, a motor vehicle theft suspect who sold the proceeds of his crimes via the social media platform Facebook. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold E.P. Hutagalung said the suspect was arrested at a shop house in the Wanasari area, Cibitung, Bekasi Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (23/6) evening at around 11.20 p.m. Western Indonesian Time.

Authorities are investigating an alleged assault that occurred at a golf course in the Kelapa Indah sub-district, Tangerang District, Tangerang City, Banten. Acting Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City Metro Police, AKP Iwan Heristiawan, confirmed in a statement in Jakarta on Thursday that a report had been received regarding the physical violence incident that occurred on Tuesday (23/6) evening.
