Jakarta (ANTARA) - The President Director of the Revolving Fund Management Agency (LPDB) Koperasi, Krisdi.dianto, stated that the credit union movement plays a role in strengthening the national cooperative ecosystem, including supporting the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative (KDKMP) programme, which is one of the government’s strategic initiatives.

According to him, the success of Indonesian credit unions is measured not only by the size of their assets and business growth but also by their ability to maintain their identity, values, and cooperative principles oriented towards member welfare.

“Credit unions must continue to be a home for the community to grow together. Amid rapid economic changes and technological developments, cooperatives must be able to transform without abandoning the fundamental values that have been their strength all this time,” Krisdianto said in a statement received in Jakarta on Friday.

Krisdianto, while opening the Annual Member Meeting (RAT) of the Induk Koperasi Kredit (INKOPDIT) for the 2025 Fiscal Year in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, stated that credit unions are encouraged not only to focus on asset and business growth but also to take a larger role in strengthening governance, member education, and community economic empowerment.

He also invited the entire credit union movement to participate in the large-scale agenda of national cooperative development, including supporting the strengthening of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives by sharing experiences and best practices in institutional development with new cooperatives, particularly the KDKMP.

According to Krisdianto, the long experience of credit unions in building member education, institutional governance, and community economic empowerment is an important asset that can be shared with new cooperatives throughout Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the INKOPDIT Board, Wara Sabon Dominikus, emphasised the importance of re-ideologisation, transformation, and strengthening resilience so that credit unions remain relevant in the face of changing times.

According to him, KDKMP is part of the large family of the Indonesian cooperative movement that needs to be supported through cooperative education, human resource development, and the transfer of governance experience.

“The Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperatives are not competitors, but rather part of the large family of the Indonesian cooperative movement. The success of KDKMP is the success of Indonesian cooperatives, and vice versa,” said Wara Sabon.

The 2025 Fiscal Year RAT of INKOPDIT serves as an important momentum for the Indonesian credit union movement to strengthen organisational consolidation, fortify institutional governance, and formulate strategic steps in facing national and global economic dynamics.

Through this forum, he stated that the synergy between the government, LPDB Koperasi, INKOPDIT, and all stakeholders is expected to grow stronger in realising cooperatives as the main pillar of the national economy.
