Creative games for kindergartens

JAKARTA (JP): A one-day competition on creative games for students from local and international kindergartens and primary schools will be held at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah on July 26, organizers said over the weekend.

Herudi Kartowisastro of the Science and Technology Center Indonesia said the contest would help children explore their creativity and imagination.

"But most of all, it is hoped that the games will arouse the children's attention and passion for science and technology," he said.

Kindergartners will compete in origami, the Japanese art of paper folding, and in identifying and drawing a particular fruit after smelling its essence.

Students from primary schools will take part in a Chinese tangram puzzle competition and will be required to show their skill in writing with the help of a mirror.

Participants in this free competition are required to bring their own coloring pencils or crayons.

Winners will receive trophies, certificates and other prizes, including savings accounts.

Registration is open until July 24 and interested participants can ask their parents to call 8411305 or 8409481, or go to the center's office in Taman Mini, East Jakarta. (cst)
