Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy is committed to supporting platforms that focus on sustainability issues as a means of strengthening the national green economy. Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar considers a sustainable creative economy ecosystem to be a crucial aspect, particularly through technological innovations capable of monitoring environmental impact. This is deemed important for implementing responsible business ecosystems. “The use of technology to monitor emissions and environmental impact is considered capable of helping to create a business ecosystem that is both productive and environmentally responsible,” Irene said in a statement received in Jakarta on Tuesday. Irene stated that digital platforms and tools can be developed to measure, monitor, and manage carbon footprints and environmental impact more effectively. She noted that such innovations can support creative economy players in conducting their business activities in a more environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, the ministry is supporting companies like Jejakin, a technology-based platform focusing on climate change solutions, and the fashion brand Aruna Creative, which focuses on utilising natural hemp plant fibres as a raw material for clothing production while applying zero-waste principles. Jejakin’s Head of Business Development, Bogar Baskoro, explained that the platform helps calculate emissions based on specific baselines and connects them with various greening programmes available across Indonesia. He added that over the past few years, the platform has been working in the sustainability sector with partners from Sabang to Merauke to maximise positive impacts, both environmentally and economically. “Over the past few years, we have been working extensively in the sustainability area, and it turns out one of the things we observed is that there are many sustainability initiatives related to events or campaign programmes,” Bogar explained.
