Creative Economy Ministry proposes additional Rp937 billion budget for creative economy programmes
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, has proposed an additional expenditure budget of Rp937 billion until the end of 2026 to ensure that national creative economy strengthening programmes can meet accelerated national targets.
“This proposal is aimed at ensuring that priority programmes can run more optimally, particularly in addressing the need for accelerated national targets, strengthening practitioner capacity, expanding access to finance and markets, and creating more tangible economic impacts,” Riefky stated during a Working Meeting with Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) at the Parliament Complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday.
Riefky noted that the proposed Additional Expenditure Budget (ABT) for the 2026 fiscal year is intended to speed up the achievement of targets, specifically regarding investment, exports, and employment absorption within the creative economy. Support is also expected to extend beyond mere budgeting to include regulatory, coordination, and supervisory aspects, ensuring the creative economy agenda is directed, measurable, and provides a direct impact for creative industry players across Indonesia.
The budget will be allocated to the ministry’s four main deputy offices: the Deputy for Strategic Development, the Deputy for Cultural Creativity and Design, the Deputy for Digital Creativity and Technology, and the Deputy for Media Creativity.
“The goal is to activate existing resources so that established creative economy communities and practitioners are revitalised. This is a reinforcement for the development of creative entrepreneurship talent based on digital and cultural foundations,” said Riefly.
As of June 2026, the Ministry of Creative Economy, through its four deputies, has utilised Rp18.6 billion of the budget for creative economy programmes, leaving Rp13.9 billion for development programmes and community capacity building. The Ministry was initially allocated a 2026 expenditure ceiling of Rp528 billion, with a post-relocation realisation of Rp400.8 billion, while the total budget ceiling issued for the four deputies amounts to Rp39.8 billion.
