Creative Economy Ministry Explores Strategic Collaboration with Shopping Centres
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Creative Economy (Kemenekraf)/Creative Economy Agency is exploring a strategic collaboration with shopping centre operator Lippo Malls Indonesia to optimise the strengthening of the creative economy ecosystem during 2026 through talent development, expansion of market access, and the utilisation of local intellectual property (IP). “Collaboration between the government and the private sector is key to building a sustainable creative economy ecosystem. Shopping centres can serve as a meeting space for creative talent, communities, industry, and the public, so that Indonesian creative works have a broader space to develop and provide added economic value,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar in a statement received on Saturday. During the meeting, both parties agreed on a collaboration plan to be implemented through a series of creative activations in August and October 2026. The programme is designed to provide space for creative economy players across sub-sectors to showcase their works, build networks, and explore commercialisation opportunities. The Deputy Minister stressed that these activations must be oriented towards a long-term ecosystem. Therefore, strict curation, collaboration between local brands, community involvement, and sharp promotional strategies are crucial elements to ensure the activities have a real impact on creative economy practitioners. Chief Marketing Officer of Lippo Malls Indonesia, Santiwati Basuki, stated that the company will present various programmes supporting the development of local IP, communities, and creative economy talent through its network of shopping centres across various regions. This collaboration is expected to create spaces that encourage the birth of value-added creative works while expanding the market reach for local products. “We hope Lippo Malls can become a catalyst for the growth of Indonesia’s creative economy. Not only by providing exhibition space, but also by opening opportunities for local IP and creative talent to develop into competitive brands and be present in retail spaces sustainably,” she said.
