Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, said the government will boost the downstreaming of local creative products so that Indonesia’s creative industry can grow further and prosper in its own country, in light of the currently unsettled global situation.

“How can our creative industry become the host in its own country, with a creative industry that was previously imported being replaced by local products, downstreaming not only of mining but downstreaming of fashion, culinary, handicrafts and so on,” said Riefky at the Laporan Pencapaian Pelatihan Digitalisasi Emak-Emak Matic dan Genmatic in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Riefky said the geopolitics of the Middle East and Europe could affect the national economy and ripple into community life.

Downstreaming of local products is expected to boost MSME sales productivity and ensure that economic activity circulates back to Indonesian communities.

With support from regional and central government, as well as private banking, alongside academics and associations, he hopes MSMEs and Indonesia’s creative industries can help shore up the economy in view of the wars ongoing in the Middle East.

A marketing system that reaches across the archipelago through digital platforms and digital-literacy training can also be a way to revive the national creative industry and mitigate the effects of geopolitical conditions on the sector.

Riefky hopes that Indonesia’s creative industries and MSMEs can become the backbone of the national economy amid crises.
