Creative Economy Minister pushes IP to strengthen creative ecosystem
Jakarta - Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya is encouraging the presence of intellectual property (IP) as an added value in creative works while strengthening the creative economy ecosystem. This effort is being carried out by supporting the organisation of the Indonesia Game Expo (IGX) and Indonesia Diecast Expo (IDE) 2026, which can become part of IP development in the creative ecosystem, particularly in the gaming and crafts sub-sectors. According to Riefky, who also serves as Head of the Creative Economy Agency, the sustainability of an event and the birth of IP from industry players are important aspects that need continuous support. “On the other hand, we want to strengthen the IP born from content and the local exhibitors involved. The Ministry of Creative Economy is ready to collaborate on IGX and IDE with various strategic partners to strengthen the organisation of creative events in Indonesia,” he said. IGX itself is an annual pop culture celebration that delivers an immersive experience by combining anime, games, and comics on one platform. Meanwhile, IDE is an IP event known as the largest diecast community and collector hub in Southeast Asia. Account Executive of Langgeng Pariwara Internasional, Irfanda Fikiransyah, said IDE 2026 will carry a spirit of togetherness. Through this event, it is hoped to drive economic growth while developing local talent. “Indonesia has many talented customisers, and some of them have even been trusted to collaborate with renowned diecast brands. This shows that Indonesian creative talent has strong competitiveness at both national and international levels,” said Irfanda. The event is designed to deliver a fun and interactive experience for visitors. The public can come to play, try various products, and directly experience the quality of local games and products. IGX CEO Andry Gosal said that IGX exists to show that the pop culture world has a broad and interconnected scope, from entertainment to other creative products. Various IPs developing within the ecosystem are also continuously presented as part of the visitor experience. “Therefore, we do not want visitors to come only to shop or just look around, but also to gain a memorable experience and encourage appreciation for the works of the nation’s children,” said Andry.
