Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya has said that Indonesia has the opportunity to attract investors from countries directly affected by global geopolitical conditions, through increasingly competitive product quality and pricing. “It is possible that Indonesia has advantages, whether in terms of price or quality, that can enter the markets of countries impacted by global geopolitical conditions,” he said when met by the media at the Food and Hospitality Indonesia 2026 exhibition in Jakarta on Tuesday. According to him, Indonesia has opportunities in terms of price and location, as it is not directly impacted by global conflict situations. Furthermore, he stated that the potential for foreign investment is considered to be greater by entering Indonesia with competitive prices while still maintaining quality that can be competitive. He also said that the FHI 2026 exhibition could be used as an opportunity to expand markets, especially for the creative economy industry, through meetings between business players and industry players to build partnerships, enhance competitiveness, and support the development of a quality and sustainable business ecosystem. “Amid the continuously growing creative economy, the hospitality, food and beverage industry plays an important role in driving innovation, opening business opportunities and creating added value. That is why every meeting and exhibition related to this ecosystem can be the start of a major collaboration,” said Riefky. Data from Statistics Indonesia shows that the Indonesian economy grew by 5.61 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026. In terms of business fields, the accommodation and food and beverage provision sector recorded the highest growth at 13.14 per cent, while government consumption increased by 21.81 per cent. The prospects for Indonesia’s food, beverage, and hospitality industry also continue to show a positive trend, contributing around 2.68 per cent to the national Gross Domestic Product, or approximately Rp639 trillion, in 2025. This condition reflects increasing economic activity as well as high demand for the hospitality and food service sector, which has now become one of the driving forces of national economic growth.
