Creative Economy Minister Emphasises Inclusivity and Sustainability at WCCE 2026
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, stated that the World Conference on Creative Economy (WCCE) in 2026 will prioritise a creative economy that is inclusive and sustainable. “Thus, WCCE emphasises that the creative economy is inclusive, transcending geographical, gender, and economic boundaries. WCCE itself serves to mainstream the creative economy at the global level and acts as a platform for setting international policy agendas,” said Riefky during a press conference for WCCE 2026 in Jakarta on Wednesday. This year, WCCE retains its core principle of Inclusively Creative but introduces a new theme and spirit: Collective Continuity, which underscores the importance of sustaining the creative economy ecosystem. Riefky explained that through collective collaboration among stakeholders, the global creative economy ecosystem can be strengthened as a new engine for economic growth worldwide. WCCE 2026 represents one of Indonesia’s intellectual properties (IP) and will be attended by approximately 80 countries with the shared goal of advancing the global creative industry and ecosystem. The first WCCE was held in Bali in 2018, and this year Jakarta has been selected as the host for WCCE 2026, which also carries the mission of positioning Jakarta as a global city. The WCCE agenda is a national priority included in President Prabowo’s RPJMN and forms part of the 20-year roadmap for the creative economy. The WCCE 2026 event, organised by the Ministry of Creative Economy in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has a specific objective to encourage a shared vision among national and international stakeholders to incorporate the Jakarta Vision for Creative Economy as a global creative economy policy at the UN session in 2027. “The hope is that through this, we can address shared challenges, explore solutions, and shape a future for the creative economy that is inclusive and sustainable,” said Riefky. The event will take place at JI Expo Kemayoran in Jakarta from 21-23 October 2026, featuring collaborative agendas with industry players, including Screenverse by Dyandra Event Solutions, which will showcase the film, gaming, streaming, and digital content ecosystem, as well as Kult Kreo by Dayakrea Mega Pradana, which will promote the monetisation of intellectual property in fashion, music, and pop culture.
