Creative Economy Minister Boosts National Film Investment Through Data Integration

Jakarta - The Ministry of Creative Economy is encouraging the strengthening of the national film industry through data integration as a foundation for more precise policymaking and increased investor confidence. Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that the government is reinforcing data governance in the film industry to make it more transparent, accurate, and sustainable, which is considered a prerequisite for creating a more conducive investment climate in the film sector. “The Ministry of Creative Economy wants Indonesia’s film ecosystem to be larger, of higher quality, and sustainable. In addition to expanding screen access and national film distribution, we want to strengthen data-based policies that can drive investment, content diversification, and international collaboration,” Riefky said in a statement received on Saturday. He noted that comprehensive industry data will improve the government’s accuracy in designing programmes and policy interventions. Furthermore, the availability of transparent data is expected to provide certainty for businesses and investors in assessing the prospects of the national film industry. To strengthen the data-based ecosystem, the Ministry of Creative Economy is exploring a strategic partnership with film analytics platform Cinepoint. Both parties are drafting a Memorandum of Understanding to develop industry data infrastructure and expand analytical services that can be utilised in policy formulation. Director of Studies and Strategic Management at the Ministry of Creative Economy, Agus Syarip Hidayat, said the data generated by Cinepoint can serve as a reference in programme planning and government policy formulation. “For us as policy makers, data from Cinepoint will be very useful as a basis for planning, programme development, and policy intervention. We hope this collaboration can strengthen the national film ecosystem,” he said. Director and Co-founder of Cinepoint, Vincent Putera, said data transparency will open new opportunities for all industry stakeholders, from production houses and distributors to investors and the government. According to him, data integration will provide clearer benchmarks for industry performance, enabling business and investment decisions to be made with a higher degree of accuracy. This condition is expected to accelerate the growth of the national film industry and expand opportunities for global collaboration.
