Creative Economy Minister Backs TVRI to Showcase National Creative Potential

Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya has stated that the Public Broadcasting Institution (LPP) TVRI can serve as an effective vehicle for introducing the nation’s creative economy potential to a broader public through broadcasting.

“TVRI can be a bridge connecting the creativity of economic actors with the wider community. With its reach, TVRI has the potential to strengthen appreciation for the work of the nation’s children while opening greater opportunities for creators to develop,” explained Teuku Riefky in a statement confirmed in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Minister Riefky said TVRI holds a strategic position in building the Indonesian narrative as well as providing a space for the birth of creativity and innovation. He noted that under the leadership of newly appointed Acting President Director Tubagus Fiki Chakara Satari, the broadcaster is expected to open wider opportunities for creative economy players across various regions and further strengthen TVRI’s position as a relevant and inclusive public broadcaster.

This inauguration serves as an important momentum for accelerating public broadcasting transformation amid a dynamic digital media landscape. Collaboration between the broadcasting world and the creative economy ecosystem is also expected to create more space for Indonesian creative works and talent.

Chair of the TVRI Supervisory Board Agus Sudibyo said the appointment of the Acting President Director was made after the board considered the organisation’s needs in facing the ever-evolving challenges of the broadcasting industry.

Agus assessed that the inauguration took place at a crucial juncture. In the near future, TVRI will broadcast the 2026 FIFA World Cup, while simultaneously facing changes in media consumption patterns increasingly influenced by digital platforms, social media, and streaming services.

“TVRI is facing a very rapidly changing media ecosystem. Therefore, a thorough and sustainable transformation is needed so that TVRI remains relevant, adaptive, and able to meet the needs of society in the digital era,” he said. The appointment of the new Acting President Director is expected to further strengthen TVRI’s role as a public broadcaster that is adaptive to the times while expanding the space for collaboration between the broadcasting world and Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem.
