Creative Economy Minister accelerates creative talent development with universities

Creative Economy Minister Teuku Riefky Harsya is exploring collaboration opportunities with Sahid University to accelerate the emergence of creative talent through startup incubation and strengthening industry research, as part of the concrete implementation of the 2026-2045 Creative Economy Master Plan (Rindekraf) in building the national creative economy ecosystem. “I see that the competencies possessed by Sahid University are aligned with various creative economy sub-sectors. This alignment is a good foundation for developing collaboration in strengthening creative talent, research, and innovation,” Riefky said in a statement received in Jakarta on Thursday. During the meeting, Sahid University presented six proposed strategic collaboration programmes: a Campus Creative Hub and Content Creator Scholarship, Creative Villages through research and community service, Campus-Level Hexahelix Collaboration, Creative Startup Incubation and Acceleration, learning recognition for creative economy actors through credit conversion, and socialisation of the Business Identification Number (NIB) for content creators. Both parties also discussed potential cooperation in organising training, seminars, workshops, competitions, MSME mentoring, and research development to strengthen the creative economy ecosystem. Responding to the proposals, the Creative Economy Minister noted that several of the programmes were already aligned with the ministry’s policy direction, particularly the development of Creative Villages, Creative Hubs, and creative economy talent. Sahid University Rector Giyatmi expressed the campus’s readiness to support creative economy development through its academic capacity. “We hope there are many things that can be collaborated on according to Sahid University’s capacity. In anything that intersects with the creative economy, we are ready to contribute through education, research, and community service to support human resource development and the progress of the nation and state,” Giyatmi said. Through this audience, the Ministry of Creative Economy and Sahid University committed to following up on technical discussions to strengthen talent development, research, innovation, and entrepreneurship as part of reinforcing the national creative economy ecosystem. The Ministry will also hold technical discussions so that a number of priority programmes can be followed up, including collaboration with content creator associations, the development of creative startup incubation, and the socialisation of NIB for content creators.
