Amid the dominance of social media and the rapid flow of global culture, instilling Pancasila values in the younger generation can no longer rely solely on lectures or memorisation in the classroom. A more creative, interactive approach that resonates with the daily lives of Gen Z is now considered key to keeping national values relevant. Driven by this spirit, Universitas Pancasila (UP) and Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) held a Talent Workshop involving dozens of high school and vocational school students from the Greater Jakarta area. The activity invited participants to understand Pancasila values through direct experience, cross-faith house of worship visits, and the creation of digital content themed around tolerance and diversity.

UP Rector Adnan Hamid asserted that the campus has a moral responsibility to ensure Pancasila values do not stop at being mere symbols or slogans. According to Adnan, the current approach to learning Pancasila must shift from theory to real practice. For this reason, the university fosters a culture of tolerance through various activities involving the entire academic community. One tangible manifestation is the presence of six houses of worship within the UP campus environment, actively used for various interfaith activities. For UP, these facilities are not just symbols of diversity but real spaces for learning about tolerance and unity. “We want to show that diversity is not only symbolically present but is truly maintained and brought to life through joint activities,” Adnan concluded.

The workshop was also attended by Deputy Chair of Commission X DPR, Himmatul Aliyah, and Dean of the Faculty of Tourism at UP, Prof Devi Roza K Kausar, with Bintang Andhyka and Julians Andarsa serving as resource persons. Prof Devi Roza K Kausar assessed that the younger generation needs learning methods that are closer to their character as digital natives. Therefore, participants were not only involved in discussions but also invited to create vlogs and social media content promoting messages of interfaith tolerance and the implementation of Pancasila values. “Pancasila cannot just be taught through theory. What is more important is how its values can be understood and applied in daily life,” Devi stated. She believes that a digital content-based approach is an effective way to ground Pancasila for a generation familiar with social media and visual communication. “We want them not only to understand the concept but also to become agents of change who spread positive messages to their surroundings,” she added. Devi emphasised that strengthening Pancasila values is increasingly crucial in the digital era, as the younger generation is easily exposed to various global information and cultures. Therefore, they need a strong national foundation to remain open to global developments without losing their national identity. “Through this activity, we hope to produce a young generation that is not only academically excellent but also capable of becoming ambassadors of tolerance, diversity, and unity through the language closest to their lives today: digital content and social media,” she explained.
