Crash victims moved to other hospital

CIREBON, West Java: Private bus operator PT Dewi Sri has been accused of arranging for 10 people, who where seriously injured on Sunday in a head-on collision between two of the bus company's buses, to be discharged from Pelabuhan hospital.

Fifteen people died and 20 were injured in the collision.

Thoat Ma'ruf, a doctor at the hospital, admitted that two men from Dewi Sri had insisted that he discharge the 10 people and move them to an Islamic hospital in Tegal, Central Java.

He said he told the two men that the patients were not fit to travel from Cirebon to Tegal and that they needed further medical treatment.

However, Thoat said he was powerless to refuse the request from the two men. --JP
