Crash! Electric Vehicle Crushed by Excavator Arm in Bintaro Permai, South Jakarta

An electric vehicle was crushed by the arm and boom of an excavator in the Bintaro Permai area, South Jakarta, with the vehicle’s roof severely damaged.

Based on video footage viewed on Friday (27 February 2026), the incident occurred the previous evening beneath the toll road in the Bintaro Permai area. The video shows the excavator being transported by a trailer truck. The excavator’s arm and boom extended beyond the truck’s length, protruding excessively over the rear section.

Kompol Mujianto, Traffic Chief of the South Jakarta Metro Police, confirmed the incident and verified that there were no casualties.

“There are no (casualties),” Mujianto stated when contacted on Friday (27 February 2026).

He explained that at the time of the incident, the truck transporting the excavator was allegedly attempting to turn or manoeuvre. Simultaneously, the electric vehicle driver allegedly moved forward and collided with the excavator’s arm and boom, which crushed the vehicle’s roof.

“Perhaps the truck carrying the excavator was manoeuvring so the excavator could turn. When attempting to turn, perhaps the truck driver was impatient and moved forward,” Mujianto explained.

Mujianto stated that the truck driver and electric vehicle driver have agreed to settle the matter peacefully. The electric vehicle owner is not seeking compensation.

“Coordination has been established with the project team. For the private vehicle, the information is that compensation is not being claimed. A meeting will be scheduled between the vehicle owner and the project team,” he said.
