Crafting Investment Strategies with Digital Technology
Digital technology has developed rapidly in recent years and penetrated various sectors, including investment. Now, digital technology can be used to craft investment strategies to capture opportunities while controlling risk. “The use of digital technology makes transaction decisions measurable, based on risk mitigation according to the investor’s profile,” said Odang Supriatna, President Director of PT Smartin Advisor Sistem (SAS), during a journalist workshop themed ‘Utilising Technology in Mitigating and Capturing Investment Opportunities’ in Jakarta on Wednesday (12/8/2026).
Other speakers at the workshop included Smartin Chief Technology Officer Ervan Chandra Gunawan, President Director of ACM Merchantile Exchange Arwandi J Setiabudi, market analyst from Dupoin Futures Indonesia Geraldo Kofit, and Product Marketing Supervisor of Bittime Fini Charisa. The event was held in collaboration with Smartin, AMC Merchantile Exchange, Bittime, and Dupoin Futures.
Odang explained that Smartin is an official futures advisory company licensed and supervised by the Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), the Financial Services Authority (OJK), and approved by Bank Indonesia (BI). Smartin has also developed an information technology development and utilisation licence in the form of an expert advisor (EA). He confirmed that SAS products include investment advisory for commodities, forex, crypto, and shares (US stock indices). The tools used include EAs, artificial intelligence (AI), signals, indicators, and educational classes.
He stated that Smartin offers two EAs. The first is the tradingmatic bot, which can be used on Meta Trader 4 (MT4) employing a single shoot strategy, fixed lots, and measured stop loss (SL) and target price (TP) based on custom indicators. The second is the quadran EA, which can be used on Meta Trader 5 (MT5) using smart breakout trading. For AI signals, he added, Smartin offers Gold Mind AI and Finsfree. Gold Mind AI provides real-time data signals and an AI engine with various indicators to generate buy or sell signals with TP and stop loss. This service is integrated with the MT5 platform. Finsfree, he said, is a multi-indicator AI analysis that can identify buy or sell signals, with SL and TP, usable for 29 pairs and seven time frames.
Odang noted that Smartin also provides indicators and education. The indicators offered are technical analysis tools that appear on charts, helping investors read market conditions. In terms of education, he explained, Smartin presents a systematic process to transfer knowledge, skills, and in-depth understanding of market mechanisms, analysis, risk management, and trading discipline. “There are several benefits of our services for the public, namely providing basic investment and financial knowledge and skills, creating jobs and an ecosystem, recognising legitimate and legal investments, and avoiding fraudulent or scam investments,” he explained. He said Smartin’s presence is to provide educational services, information, and recommendations in accordance with applicable regulations. SAS also helps clients make measured investment decisions based on risk mitigation and conduct transactions safely, with management and control over risk.
Arwandi J Setiabudi stated that Smartin is a futures advisory company. In the trading ecosystem within an organised market such as an exchange, the function of a futures advisor is essential to fill a crucial role that is often overlooked. “A Futures Advisor is a neutral party that provides investment advice to market participants in the form of education and know-how. This is very important for developing markets in developing countries like Indonesia,” he said. Therefore, ACM, which is also a neutral party in the trading ecosystem, strongly supports the presence of futures advisors. ACM collaborates to develop the industry together. He stated that investment and risk are two inseparable things. There is a well-known slogan often heard: high risk high return and low risk low return. According to him, the goal of investment is to grow assets. From the slogan, risk is placed first. Therefore, risk mitigation must always be a higher priority than return. “The most basic risk mitigation is financial literacy, which is one of the main roles of a futures advisor in educating the market,” he said. He stressed that ultimately, the investment decision lies in the hands of the investor. Therefore, as business actors in the trading ecosystem, all parties are obliged to provide financial literacy to investors. The first step, he said, is to encourage investors to attend neutral and beneficial education sessions. The ultimate goal of education is to provide sufficient preparation for investors to make investment decisions that match their investor profile.
Meanwhile, Dupoin Futures welcomed the collaboration with Smartin in the 2026 journalist workshop. The synergy between industry players, technology providers, and the media is an important step to improve digital financial literacy while strengthening public understanding of safe and responsible investment. “Risk mitigation is a fundamental aspect of every investment decision. Besides understanding potential profits, investors also need to understand risks in order to make wiser decisions that match their risk profile,” said Taufan, marketing director of Dupoin Futures Indonesia. He stated that Dupoin Futures prioritises education, technology utilisation, and regulatory compliance as part of risk mitigation efforts.
