Jakarta - A joint team of officials cracked down on illegal parking and street vendor (PKL) stalls beside Lebak Bulus MRT Station in South Jakarta on Friday (24/4/2026).

The enforcement action followed social media spotlight on the illegal parking, as rows of motorbikes were blocking part of the road and triggering congestion on Jalan Kembang Raya.

Additionally, the presence of PKL stalls at the intersection of Jalan RA Kartini was obstructing traffic access.

Based on observations at the site on Friday, motorbikes parked in two rows were moved by officials to a new parking area on vacant land owned by PT Sarana Jaya, located beside Poins Square Mall.

The illegal parking relied upon by groups of workers on Jalan Kembang Lestari beside the MRT Station depot is now prohibited.

This is because motorbikes parked there cover part of the road, frequently causing congestion on that two-way street.

Rano Karno urged residents not to create illegal parking there anymore.

Rano also requested Satpol PP officers to dismantle the PKL stalls. This is because the stalls under the corrugated iron roof also block part of the road.

According to him, the PKL location directly facing the MRT depot, which is bordered by a high wall, is quite dangerous.

“These stalls too, in my words, I ask for permission. It’s not that business is not allowed, it is, but later we will prepare the place. We know this is MRT access, with quite high frequency,” he said.

However, Rano has not specified where the vendors will be relocated.

At least four vendors operate stalls under that corrugated iron roof. They generally sell food.
